OPENING & CLOSING A DOOR BY VOICE

In this video I am demonstrating how I open and close my front door with only the use of my voice. The products I use are, a open sesame automatic door opener, a go-go gate garage door opener and a amazon echo. The open sesame automatic door opener usually comes with a button that can be pressed to open the door but since I wanted to have access to this with my voice I wired in a go-go gate garage door opener that can be controlled with the amazon echo. I used IFTTT triggers to get these devices to interact with each other.

Being able to open enclose my door independently is incredibly important to my independence. Not only being able to exit my house in case of an emergency but having the freedom to go outside or enter my house when I choose is incredibly important. A special thank you to go-go gate for helping me research and find out their product was compatible with the open sesame automatic door opener.

This video demonstrates what a wired switch may look like. The open sesame remote door opener was wired into a sip and puff box so Tyler could open and close his door by sipping and puffing.

OPENING & CLOSING A DOOR BY SWITCH

The open sesame door system is a residential door opener that lets individuals open and close their door independently. This can be done one of several ways:

Remote button
- A button much like a garage door opener that connects to the open sesame door system via radio signals. All the individual needs to do is press the button in the door will open
Proximity sensor
- a proximity sensor can be placed on the wheelchair opening and closing the door with the individual gets within range. The range can be adjusted.
Switch access
- Much like the remote button and accessible switch can be wired into the remote button and then mounted to the wheelchair so an individual can easily access it. Example: A button mounted next to somebody head.

Switch access via cell phone or voice control
- If the individual has the ability to control their cell phone they can open up an application on their cell phone and use that to control the door. This option would require a garage door or gate opener to be wired in to the door opener. Voice control
- Wiring in a gate opener or garage door opener makes VoiceCommands possible. Once the gate or garage door opener is wired into the open sesame they can be controlled by an Amazon echo, or another smart speaker. Depending on what you use and IFTTT trigger may be necessary.
